What is Makhraj?

Makhraj is the point from which a letter's sound originates. There are 17 main articulation points in Arabic. Knowledge of makhraj is essential for distinguishing letters and correct pronunciation.

Five Main Articulation Areas

1) Jawf (empty space): Madd letters. 2) Halq (throat): 6 letters. 3) Lisan (tongue): 18 letters. 4) Shafatan (lips): 4 letters. 5) Khayshum (nasal cavity): Ghunnah sound.

Throat Letters

Six letters from three throat regions: Lowest (ه، ء), middle (ع، ح), upper (غ، خ). These letters require special attention for non-Arabic speakers.

Practice Method
