What is Elifba? Learning to Read the Quran with Elifba

Comprehensive information about the Elifba concept, its history, teaching stages and the digital Elifba experience with QuranKids.

The Concept of Elifba

Elifba is a term derived from the first two letters of the Arabic alphabet, Alif and Ba. It traditionally refers to the introductory book and method for teaching Quran reading. Also known as 'Qaida' or 'Nooraniah', this concept has been used as a fundamental literacy teaching tool in the Islamic world for hundreds of years.

Elifba Teaching Stages

Classic Elifba instruction follows these stages: 1) Recognition of plain letter forms, 2) Learning beginning-middle-end writing forms, 3) Learning basic vowel marks (fatha, kasra, damma), 4) Learning sukun and shadda, 5) Tanween (double fatha, double kasra, double damma), 6) Madd letters (elongation with alif, waw, ya), 7) Basic tajweed rules and verse reading.

Elifba in the Digital Age: QuranKids

QuranKids has brought the traditional Elifba approach into the digital environment. It offers interactive lessons, audio cards and matching games for each stage, allowing children to progress at their own pace. The reward system (badges, medals, stars) increases motivation. With support in 6 languages, children worldwide can learn Elifba.

The Quran Reading Journey with Elifba

Elifba is the first and most important step in the Quran reading journey. A student who correctly recognizes letters, knows vowel marks and has mastered basic tajweed rules can begin reading the Holy Quran directly. QuranKids helps you build this foundation solidly.
